Houkouji temple

Houkouji is the head temple of the Houkouji sect of Rinzai Buddhism and is also famous as a Zen temple representative of the Tokai region. You can experience Zazen (Zen meditation) and Shakyo (Sutra copying) in this temple. You can enjoy seasonal Shojin Ryori, the traditional Japanese Buddhist cuisine. Shojin Ryori is prepared with natural ingredients with vegetables as its main staple. The Shukubo temple lodging can be used for a variety of purposes.
