Sendai City Museum

The museum houses a large collection of items formerly belonging to the Date clan, which controlled the Sendai region from the 17th to the 19th centuries. The collection includes historically and artistically significant artifacts, such as armor owned by the first Lord of the Sendai Domain, Date Masamune, and precious materials related to the Keicho-era mission to Europe (three of which are certified as Memories of the World by UNESCO). The permanent collection display changes seasonally.
