At the time of its opening in 1927, the Iwate Prefecture Public Hall has served as the Prefectural Assembly Hall, featuring a large hall, a Western restaurant, and lodgings for the royal family. Currently it contains 16 conference rooms of various sizes, an 839-seat hall, and a gallery.
