The former Mitsui Bank Otaru Branch symbolizes the glory days of Otaru when its was 'the most esteemed economic city in Northern Japan'. The impressive stone-built renaissance-style exterior and beautiful interior hallways that encircle the vaulted ceiling represent the state-of-art architecture of that time.
