Narita

Visitors from over 120 cities worldwide get their first glimpse of Japan through the gates of Narita International Airport. With historical sites including the over 1,000-year-old Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, Narita has plenty of elegant Japanese culture on display. Naritasan Museum of Calligraphy
The museum is located within Naritasan Park, covering about 165,000 sqm (about 3.5 times the size of Tokyo Dome) and features plum, cherry, wisteria, chrysanthemum, and maple trees. The park has many stone monuments of Katsu Kaishu, Matsuo Basho, Takahama Kyoshi, and other famous figures. It offers different views each season, from fresh greenery in spring to snowy landscapes in winter. As its name suggests, the museum houses an extensive collection of calligraphy works of zekku and risshi (types of Chinese poems) as well as other poems from the late Edo period (1603–1868) to the modern age.
