Fukushima

Fukushima

Fukushima City, the capital of Fukushima Prefecture, is the political, economic, and cultural center of the prefecture, nestled in a basin with the majestic Azuma Mountain Range to the west and the rolling Abukuma Highlands to the east.
Following the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 and the accident at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, the city is currently in the process of recovering from a disaster unlike any other in the world, with support from all over the world.
In 2021, the baseball and softball events of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were held at Azuma Stadium in the city. We will support MICE organizers by leveraging the Olympic legacy. In addition, in cooperation with the coastal region of Fukushima Prefecture known as Hamadori, we will offer Hope Tourism, a program to experience and learn about the recovery from this unprecedented catastrophe.
Fukushima City boasts of Fukushima's three famous hot springs: Iizaka Onsen, with Japan's oldest wooden bathhouse, Tsuchiyu Onsen, known as the home of Kokeshi dolls, and Takayu Onsen, a secluded hot spring with cloudy sulfur springs, and a fruit kingdom where visitors can enjoy lush fruits all year round, including the famous peach. It is also easily accessible, being only 90 minutes from Tokyo.
After the convention, we hope you will enjoy a pleasant time "only in Fukushima" where you can heal both body and soul and enjoy the scenery of the four seasons.
