SUPPORT MEASURES

1. Financial Assistance for Conventions
[Subsidy Programs]
Subsidies are granted to conventions held in Takamatsu or the neighboring towns of Miki, Naoshima or Ayagawa. However, sports events and training camps held within Kagawa Prefecture are also eligible.
(i) For international conferences
(a) Nonresidents of Japan account for at least 20% of participants.
(b) The event results in at least 50 hotel-room nights in Takamatsu or the neighboring towns of Miki, Naoshima or Ayagawa by nonresidents of Kagawa Prefecture.
(c) Programs, abstracts and other materials must clearly indicate that the event is subsidized by the Takamatsu Convention & Visitors Bureau.
(d) Organizers must submit at least 1 organizer questionnaire and 10 participant questionnaires after the event.
Subsidy amount: Up to 5 million yen (2,000 yen x total hotel-room nights by nonresidents of Kagawa Prefecture)
(ii) For national conferences, academic conferences, sports tournaments, training camps, etc.
(a) The event results in at least 100 hotel-room nights in Takamatsu or the neighboring towns of Miki, Naoshima or Ayagawa by nonresidents of Kagawa Prefecture.
(b) The event must draw participants from at least 3 prefectures (including Kagawa) (this does not apply to training camps).
(c) Programs, abstracts and other materials must clearly indicate that the event is subsidized by the Takamatsu Convention & Visitors Bureau (this does not apply to training camps)
(d) Organizers must submit at least 1 organizer questionnaire and 10 participant questionnaires after the event.
Subsidy amount: Accommodation subsidy of 500 yen x total hotel-room nights by nonresidents of Kagawa Prefecture
Operations subsidy of 200,000 yen when 3 different members of TCVB are used (Maximums: 1.8 million yen for national conferences, 800,000 yen for conferences of other sizes; 800,000 yen for national sports tournaments, 300,000 yen for sports tournaments of other sizes; 500,000 yen (300 yen x total hotel-room nights by nonresidents of Kagawa Prefecture) for training camps)
* This subsidy only covers lodging at lodging facilities that are supporting members of TCVB.
(iii) For excursions
For visits to at least 2 tourism facilities in Takamatsu or the neighboring towns of Miki, Naoshima or Ayagawa, planned and implemented by event organizers.
Subsidy amount: Up to 300,000 yen for the lower of half of charter fees or 30,000 yen x the number of vehicles (vessels) chartered.
2. Other Support Services
[For organizers:]
Helping with event preparation
(i) Planning venues, unique venues, excursions
(ii) Coordinating venue reservations, facilities, etc.
(iii) Introducing event planners, operators, etc.
(iv) Introducing attractions
[For organizers/participants:]
(i) Providing various pamphlets of Kagawa/Takamatsu, plastic convention bags for carrying distributed materials
(ii) Lending DVDs that introduce Kagawa/Takamatsu (4 languages)
(iii) Selling convention bags for 150 yen (extra fee to print the convention name)

Sanuki udon noodle-making experience

Seto Inland Sea

  • Sanuki udon noodle-making experience
    Udon artisans who stick to the traditional tastes of Takamatsu, the home of Sanuki udon, teach visitors how to make udon noodles from scratch. Then, boil and eat right on the spot. (Required time: about 90 minutes)
  • Seto Inland Sea art tours
    Numerous works of art within nature, set against the background of the Seto Inland Sea. Enjoy an art journey through the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, including Naoshima, Teshima and Shodoshima.
  • Takamatsu: Home of Bonsai
    The Kinashi Kokubun-ji Temple area is a top-class producer of Japanese bonsai. Enjoy this hands-on experience by visiting fields of the rarest bonsai in the world and the many bonsai gardens in the area.
