Jozankei Onsen

Japanese Culture Programs

  • Jozankei Onsen (Hot Springs)
Just 40 minutes by car from central Sapporo in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, Jozankei Onsen is considered a place of retreat from the city. The hot springs are surrounded by picturesque gorges. The traditional Japanese inn provides opportunities to enjoy tea ceremony, indigenous Ainu folktales and more.
  • Hands-on experiences with Japanese culture
Sapporo has a variety of hands-on experiences to complement conferences held there. Volunteer staff members help accompanying guests of event participants enjoy Japanese tea ceremony, flower arrangement, Japanese calligraphy, kimono and other activities.
  • Hands-on experiences with indigenous Ainu culture
Mouth harp (mukkuri) making and other such activities for learning about Ainu culture await visitors.
