2021.02.19 The first “Meet Japan Online” welcomed professionals worldwide

The Japan Convention Bureau, has been welcoming association executives and meeting professionals considering organizing their events in Japan, for the past 30 years through the Meet Japan hosted buyers’ program. This year, restrictions on international travel caused JCB to pivot the event online, where Japanese CVBs and industry professionals relayed crucial information about the events industry in Japanese destinations.

The program was held from January 26th until February 4th, with live sessions set at different times that allowed participants in the Americas, Europe and Asia to join in. Overseas-based JNTO MICE specialists moderated the virtual fam trip sessions that introduced the cities of Sendai, Yokohama, Osaka and Fukuoka. Each session featured virtual tours, live Q&A sessions, and interactive workshops unique to each city, with local convention bureau staff as navigators. The well received virtual tours showcased major facilities for business events, a highlight of city landmarks and also teased taste buds with a glimpse of the local food scenes. Additionally, this year the Meet Japan program included special guest speakers from world renowned PCOs with the cooperation of IAPCO, who shared their insights on why Japan makes a great destination for successful events based on their own experiences executing international conferences in Japan.

Information on how to apply to future editions of the Meet Japan program will be posted here.
