In 2016, the Conference of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) will be held in Tokyo. It is planned to take place in October 2016 over a period of four days, and 2,000 attendees are expected.
Eadin Murphy, ISQua Events Manager, visited Japan on a study tour in March 2013 through the cooperation of JNTO. Ms Murphy gave the following comments on why Tokyo was selected to host the conference:
We are delighted to collaborate with the Japan Council for Quality Health Care (JCQHC) to host this leading international scientific meeting on quality and safety. JCQHC are doing great work to improve quality and to assure reliability in health care in Japan. Tokyo's charm as a host city was a factor in its selection. Tokyo will provide a spectacular backdrop for the conference, combining advanced metropolitan features with glimpses of old Japan.
For ISQua2016, she noted that "we have not decided yet on our social activities, but each year we incorporate the culture of the host country into the welcome and networking reception."
For Japan, with its highly developed medical infrastructure, this conference is an opportunity to show the world its achievements in healthcare systems and medical research, and to spur on improvements in the quality of medical care globally.
