Japanese candles
The word "Zen" is known around the world these days, and "Zazen" is also becoming well known in Japan. Hieizan Enryakuji Temple offers a Zazen meditation experience using traditional Japanese candles. Each participant writes their wish on a candle and meditates while watching the flame flicker in a way that is unique to Japanese candles. These candles are likened to the "Eternal Light of Buddhism" that has been alight in Hieizan Enryakuji Temple's Konpon Chudo Hall for 1,200 years. Many participants have said that this experience enhances their concentration more than typical Zazen practices.
